Conclusion

The Hyde Amendment has continued to be passed annually in congress since its implementation and successful defence. In order for Hyde to continue to be passed, it required anti-abortion movement to assemble pro-life democrats. It appears however democrats are becoming more supportive of abortion, Presidential Candidate Joe Biden has received criticism from members of the party for supporting the Hyde amendment, causing him to flip his position.[13] Nevertheless, even if the Democratic party turns on the Hyde Amendment the anti-abortion movement has succeeded in altering the abortion landscape in the U.S through a combination of propaganda, political policy and law- creating a lasting impact.

Whether you are pro-life or pro-choice, the antiabortion movement has demonstrated that even while unpopular a small group of dedicated activists can succeed in creating institutional change.
