The immediate aftermath of Roe proved to improve the lives of women by giving them access to safe abortion services, however this impact was short lasting. Almost instantly, Roe evoked widespread controversy and politicized abortion which would inevitably lead to the Hyde Amendment, which will be discussed further in Will Foley’s exhibit. The immediate aftermath of Roe was constantly filled with a looming threat that abortion could be taken away easily. Feminist activists and male sympathizers worked tirelessly to increase access to abortion and make it more affordable because the Roe decision never provided a proper framework to truly give women abortion rights.
